I don’t know why, but mashups, parodies, and cross-overs are my favorite things in the world. There is something amazing about the comic books where Indiana Jones discovers the crashed Millenium Falcon and the comic book series where Doctor Who and Captain Picard team up to defeat the Borg and the Cybermen. Of course, it goes without being said that I’m a pretty big Weird Al Yankovic fan. And, although I’m not much of a book nerd, I was pretty excited when I saw Pride and Prejudice and Zombies sitting on the bookshelf at Target.

Much to my delight, this morning I was listening to yesterday’s episode of Tech News Today when I heard in the Randomizer segment that there has been bestowed upon us a proper retelling of the epic “saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age” in Elizabethan English. Yes, William Shakespeare’s Star Wars is a real thing. It happened. And, to make it more beautifully wonderful, there’s a book trailer!

Star Trek fans have had a lot of criticism and applause for the 2009 reboot of Star Trek by J. J. Abrams. In defense of J. J. there’s no way he could make everyone happy, so I believe he went with the most intelligent approach, make Star Trek enjoyable for the mainstream audience. In defense of the fans, WHAT THE HECK MAN? It’s like you blew the whole Star Trek franchise out one of Gallactica’s launch tubes! I mean, the Okuda’s are going to have to completely rewrite the entire encyclopedia. OK, I’ve geeked out enough. By now you’ve surely heard the news that Disney just forked over $4.05 billion dollars to buy LucasFilm LTD, lock stock and barrel, with the explicit intent of making more Star Wars films. If you want actual facts about the deal, try this. But we’re not here to annoy you with facts. We’re here to bring you wacky image mash-ups of Disney and Star Wars!
